Connected Health: Next-Generation Medical Networks

The QoE system prioritizes and regulates medical data streams, such as video, vital signs, and ECG data, in real time based on the current network quality and the clinical treatment context. The aim is to maintain telemedical care at a medically meaningful level even under unstable connectivity conditions, for example in ambulances or remote areas.

In 2025, key system components were further developed. A generic video adapter was completed, SDC interfaces for vital signs data were conceptually prepared, and initial compression methods for ECG and pulse data were implemented. The basic framework of the expert system for decision logic is now available. In preparation for medical validation, observerships at tele-emergency physician dispatch centers were planned, and a standardized questionnaire was developed. A hardware demonstrator makes differences in video transmission quality tangible for end users.
