Additional information for this website

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies for statistics, advertising or tracking, and it does not embed any services that track you across websites when you simply visit a page. Fonts and map images are hosted on our own server.

We only use technically necessary cookies:

  • I18N_LANGUAGE stores the language you have chosen (German or English) so that the website stays in that language. It contains only the language code and is deleted when you close your browser.
  • __ac is only set when members of our editorial team log in, and keeps them logged in. It is deleted when they log out or close the browser. For notices such as "You are now logged in" the website briefly sets the cookie statusmessages.

In addition, the website stores the translations of its user interface elements in your browser's storage (local storage, entries widgets-de and widgets-en) so that they do not have to be loaded again on every page view. These entries are the same for all visitors, contain no information about you and are refreshed after 24 hours. They remain in the browser until you delete the website data.

These cookies are required to provide the functions you have requested; no consent is needed for them (Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG, German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act). You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time; the website may then show the default language again.

Embedded YouTube videos

Some of our pages embed videos from YouTube. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google").

Only after you click. No connection to YouTube is made when you visit our pages. At first you only see a placeholder where the video will be. The video is loaded from YouTube's servers only when you click "Load video". We use YouTube's "privacy-enhanced mode" (youtube-nocookie.com).

What data is transferred. Once you load a video, Google receives in particular

  • your IP address,
  • information about your browser and device,
  • the address of the page containing the video,
  • the date and time of access.

YouTube may also store or read cookies or similar technologies on your device. If you are signed in to a Google account at the same time, Google may link the access to your account. We have no influence on the nature and extent of Google's processing.

Legal basis. Processing is based on the consent you give by clicking "Load video" (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Storing and reading information on your device is governed by Section 25(1) TDDDG.

Transfer to the USA. Google may also transfer data to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

Withdrawal. We do not store your consent. It applies only to the individual video and the current page view; on your next visit the placeholder appears again. You can also watch the videos directly on YouTube without embedding (link "Watch on YouTube" in the placeholder).

For more information, see Google's privacy policy. For your rights as a data subject (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, complaint to the supervisory authority), the information in the privacy statement of Leipzig University applies.
