Smart Clinical Assistance: Emergency Management
Tele-KAI
Creation of a virtual intensive care treatment center through implementation of a tele-intensive care infrastructure
Tele-intensive care at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care at Leipzig University Hospital: makes intensive care expertise available across distances and enables targeted, resource-adapted patient transfers.

The aim of the project is to set up a tele-intensive care infrastructure at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (KAI) of the University Hospital Leipzig (UKL). The UKL is one of three maximum care providers in Saxony and the central contact for a wide range of intensive care issues in northern and western Saxony.
Telemedicine is a way of making high levels of medical expertise available across geographical distances and providing patients with prompt care in line with guidelines. At the same time, it enables critically ill patients to be transferred in a targeted and resource-adapted manner in order to relieve the burden on strained structures as best as possible.
