Research in Action: Inspiring Encounters at Dresden’s Open Government Day

On Sunday, ICCAS – Innovation Center Computer Assisted Surgery – took part in the Offenes Regierungsviertel, an open day organised by the Saxon State Government, hosted by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism. We showcased how digital technologies can help shape the future of healthcare.

🚑 Our research ambulance gave visitors an insight into how emergency medical services, emergency dispatch centres and hospitals could be digitally connected in the future. Our robotic dog also attracted plenty of curious attention.

Together with HTWK Leipzig - Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur Leipzig, we also presented results from the SoKoRoMed research project. Using the SpiRoKu robotic assistance system as an example, we demonstrated how robotics can support healthcare professionals in the operating room and help reduce their workload.

Above all, the event provided a valuable opportunity to bring our research directly to the public, answer questions and engage with visitors in conversations about the practical applications of innovative technologies in medicine.

A heartfelt thank you to Sebastian Gemkow, Saxon State Minister for Science, for visiting our stand and taking an interest in our latest research projects and technologies. We are also grateful to all visitors for their keen interest and the many stimulating conversations, to the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (Sächsisches Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft, Kultur und Tourismus) for organising the event, and to everyone at ICCAS and HTWK Leipzig who helped make the day a success through their commitment and enthusiasm.
